This media facade project transformed 'Songjeong Overpass'—located between Songjeong Station and Gwangju Airport, a major gateway to Gwangju Metropolitan City—into a massive light gallery in the heart of the city. To ease the tedious commute caused by traffic congestion on Sangmu-daero and to create a new nocturnal landmark for Gwangsan-gu, we planned and produced a total of 14 diverse video contents. It intuitively captures local stories, including the Songjeong Station Market, the Scenic 30-ri Road, and collages of local attractions. In particular, to overcome the pixelation issues (resolution limits) of projectors projecting onto a wide bridge surface, we strategically applied 2D motion graphics with intense primary color contrasts and sensory typography techniques, instead of high-contrast 3D. Through precise projection mapping tailored to the curves of both sides of the bridge, this high-end public media art delivers a clear and overwhelming visual experience from any angle.
